Couples Counselling. twochairs

As a couples counsellor my role is to make sure each of you feels heard, by me and by each other. We'll talk about what has brought you to couples counselling and what you hope to get out of it. Some of the issues couples want to work on include affairs, breakdown in communication, conflict, divorce, issues around sex and intimacy, separation and trust issues. However, each couple is unique and I will help you be honest with yourselves and each other about your needs and expectations.

We may identify certain patterns of behaviour that occur between you, and sometimes these will be related to experiences that you’ve each had in your past. Understanding these cycles can help you to see how you can reduce the impact of the past on your current relationship and to work out new ways of being with each other. Focusing on emotions can help create a more secure bond and develop more trust, moving the relationship into a healthier, more positive direction.

One of the things I hear most often in my work with couples is how much they come to value having a safe space; somewhere they feel they can be totally honest with their partner, without fear of judgement; somewhere they feel they are heard and understood.
